PRESS RELEASE: OCTOBER 2008

QMan 2008 featuring innovative award-winning robotic technology

Advanced Robotic Technologies (ART) will feature an innovative award-winning aluminium cutting router on Stand 1000 during the 2008 Queensland Manufacturing Technology Exhibition (QMan), which will be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre from October 21 to 23.

ART was recently awarded the coveted Advanced Manufacturing Innovator of the Year Award, for its high-speed aluminium cutting router with tangential print head and integrated swarf extraction system, by the Australian Manufacturing Technology Institute Limited (AMTIL).

Applications include precision aluminium-based manufacturing operations such as high speed ferry and boat builders, bus and fire engine manufacturers and in the aerospace industry as well as in plastics machining, fibreglass cutting, cabinetmaking and phenolic machining.

ART’s plasma cutting machines are used by steel fabricators, engineering firms, air conditioning ducting makers, by trailer and automotive manufacturers, as well as by the agricultural and mining industries.

The AMTIL awards draw entries from around Australia, and aim to highlight Australian manufacturing innovation and excellence.

“We’re delighted to have been recognised by this prestigious award and we’re delighted to be able to showcase this innovative Australian technology at QMan,” said director Peter Nolan.

“The award recognises the dedication and exceptional hard work shown by our employees in developing our business and is a great tribute to them.”

According to Nolan, ART is not just about innovation and productivity improvement, but also places great emphasis on the development of its people and continuous improvement.

“We have invested heavily in research and development, and have developed our own technologies, which have enabled our manufacturing clients to compete in a global market,” said Nolan.

Nolan is upbeat about the company’s participation in QMan.

“We’re enthusiastic about showcasing our products at QMan, especially since Queensland is our home state,” said Nolan.

“We are inviting visitors to evaluate our products and see why our machines are sought after around the globe.”

ART will also use QMan to premiere its new entry-level CNC routing machine, the SMR Series. This is a versatile, multipurpose machine designed for both existing and cutting-edge applications.

Other products on display at ART’s stand will include:

  • A heavy-duty high-definition Plasma Cutting machine, featuring Hypertherm’s new Auto Gas Console, as well as incorporating an optional drilling head
  • The SMART 4000 Plasma Cutter designed specifically for low-cost operators with high-performance requirements
  • ToolShop toolpath and nesting software and ProfileShop machine control software running by touchscreen on the machines
  • An integrated swarf extraction system that eliminates the need for an overhead structure
  • Paul Baker, Exhibition Manager with Reed Exhibitions, which organises QMan 2008, said he was very pleased that ART’s award-winning router technology would be displayed at the exhibition.

“Having exhibitors of the calibre of ART participating in QMan reinforces the exhibition’s position as a key event for Queensland manufacturers,” said Baker.

“For anyone working in the manufacturing industry, and who wants to stay abreast of the latest developments, it is essential to visit this year’s QMan.”

Other key exhibitors who will be at QMan include Blackwoods, Leap Australia, Multicam Systems, Product Lifecycle Management, Robotic Automation, Shaw Machinery and Treotham Automation.

Leading industry players partnering QMan 2008 include:

  • Platinum sponsors: Blackwoods; QMI Solutions
  • Sponsor: Enterprise Connect  – an Australian Government Initiative
  • Official supporters: The Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME); the Institute of Instrumentation, Control & Automation Australia Inc (IICA); and the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group)
